(Updated) Obama - A GREAT speech, from a non-supporter
Tue Mar 18, 2008 at 08:30:48 AM PDT
Many of you are very aware I am not, and have not been a supporter of Barack Obama.
This is not because I support Hillary Clinton - in fact, I like/dislike Hillary and Barack equally, for very different reasons.
My goal for 2008 is to see a Democrat in the White House. I felt there were problems with both of the remaining candidates being elected. I supported John Edwards, in part because I felt he was the most electable in the general election. We can see where that went.
After watching Hillary throw her campaign in the toilet, I long ago realized that Obama would be our nominee, and I have hoped for the best. The Wright controversy made me feel we were doomed.
Obama or Clinton?
Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 06:49:54 AM PDT
Most of you know me, you know I was firmly planted behind John Edwards, you know I still support John Edwards, and you probably know, as of this minute, I plan on voting for John Edwards in the WI primary.
What you probably don't know is that I don't want to. I want to cast a vote that matters, a vote that will help my candidate, a vote that will ensure I am part of the process. A process that I love and believe strongly in.
Well, this diary is going to tell you why I plan on voting for John, and how you can change that, if you so desire.

The California wildfires are still burning out of control. Zero containment, with fierce Santa Anna winds as of 11:30am CST.
Please use this diary as your go-to resource for emergency info. We have many Kossacks in CA and in the fire zones providing invaluable information, which can be accessed through these Wildfire diaries.

Imus Fired by MSNBC
Wed Apr 11, 2007 at 03:30:52 PM PDT
Don Imus radio simulcast on MSNBC has been permanently dropped, effective immediately.
Tucker Carlson is reporting the breaking news. The reason given is obviously the racist remarks, but the spoken wish of Barack Obama that Imus be fired, as well as the loss of advertisers sealed the deal.
Obama call for Imus to be fired.
Advertisers pull out of Imus show.
CBS Exec calls for Imus to be fired.
The next announcement will be the formal firing by CBS Radio. I'll update as soon as it's made, most likely today.
Our Prayers Go Out to Tony Snow and Family
Tue Mar 27, 2007 at 07:03:56 AM PDT
The White House, per MSNBC, has just announced Tony Snow has cancer of the liver.
I will flesh this diary out as soon as more details are revealed.
As you recall, in February 2005, Snow revealed that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer. He returned to work in April 2005. On Friday, March 23, 2007, Snow announced that he would be undergoing surgery the following Monday to remove and investigate an abdominal growth. Unfortunately, the growth was cancerous and may have spread to his liver.
Survival
Sun Dec 24, 2006 at 10:28:15 AM PDT
This is the story of one person's life struggle. The struggle to survive, be happy, make a difference, be remembered.
We've all met them - the people seemingly with no history. They are just there. You know them, but you don't. You hear tales of family, kids perhaps, past adventures. But you never meet anyone who can confirm. No old friends, no family members. And you wonder. Why is this seemingly intelligent, interesting, lovely person all alone in the world? By choice? By accident? Or perhaps destiny is pre-ordained, and we all end up where we are supposed to be - all beyond our control.
This is the true, detailed story of one such woman. Please join me, as it will make her feel not so alone on another "family day" spent without family.

Red Cow Truck (Update)
Wed Jul 19, 2006 at 09:56:49 AM PDT

Meet Brian, affectionately known over the CB as Red Cow Truck. Brian is a bull-hauler, a trucker who hauls cattle. Has been for decades. Your typical redneck, gun-loving WASP, and devoted Bush lover. He has also been my dear friend for eons. I love him, but we have had some screaming matches regarding politics, especially before, during, and after the 2004 election. With all of his built-in biases, he is an intelligent, self-educated man with an overabundance of street smarts. A sense of humor that will keep you in stitches and a heart as big as all outdoors. Follow me below the fold to hear more about this lovable Republican.
Insurgents Offer Cease-Fire
Wed Jun 28, 2006 at 03:26:26 PM PDT
From the AP:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Eleven Sunni insurgent groups have offered an immediate halt to all attacks -- including those on American troops -- if the United States agrees to withdraw foreign forces from Iraq in two years, insurgent and government officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
The groups who've made contact have largely shunned attacks on Iraqi civilians, focusing instead on the U.S.-led coalition forces. Their offer coincides with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's decision to reach out to the Sunni insurgency with a reconciliation plan that includes an amnesty for fighters.

MOJOPALOOZA - Round 3
Fri Aug 26, 2005 at 01:35:58 PM PDT
Here ya go kiddies - Round 3 of throwing out 4s like yesterday's news.
Here's the facts, and only the facts?
- If you post a comment, remember to give a 4 to all the other posts.
- To regain your trusted user status, so cruelly wiped out by the upgrades made by Kos yesterday, you need SEVERAL comments rated 4 by others. So feel free to reply to everything.
- When this thread becomes too large, somebody start a Round 4, and unreccommend this thread.
Let the fun begin!
